Lydia Osei Tutu is the last of five children born to Mr. S. A. Amaning, a retired career diplomat and Mrs. E. A. Amaning. Lady Julia and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II married in April 2002 and have 6 children together. She is of the House of Oyoko Dynasty.

She is a well educated woman and has been to schools like Wesley Girls’ High School, University of Ghana and also the Ghana School of law. She is a lawyer by profession. She was called to Ghana Bar Association in 1994.

She also has a masters degree in Law at the Queen’s University in Canada in 1995.

She has worked in several organizations in Ghana. She was the corporate affairs Officer for Ecobank Ghana in 1998. In 2002, she was the Secretary to the National Partnership for Children’s Trust.

She currently happens to be a Patron of Otumfour Charity Foundation

Aside this, she can speak local and foreign languages such as Twi, English and French.
