BREAKING NEWS: ANAS AREMEYAW ANAS EXPOSED PREZ JOHN MAHAMA (PHOTOS + VIDEO)
The Forensic Financial Unit of the Police CID is investigating the second leg of controversial Anas video in which the Ghana Football Association President is accused of fraud and influence peddling.
It is emerging former government officials, including the ex-president John Mahama may be investigated by the police CID over claims they benefitted from donations by investor friends linked to Kwesi Nyantakyi.
In a statement written by Mr Nyantakyi on May 23, excerpts of which have been gleaned by Joy News, the embattled FA president is reported as saying an amount of $8 million was given to Mr Mahama and the NDC ahead of 2016 elections.
The police CID are therefore investigating whether or not the money was sent, how it was sent, if at all it was and who received what amount.
The police are also looking into a possible breach of financial laws if indeed the amount of money was sent.
The new twist to this investigation adds to the controversy that has been triggered by Number 12, Anas’ latest investigation on football and politics.
In the video, the embattled Football president is heard using the names of the president Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to extort money from persons he thought were potential investors into the Ghanaian economy.
However, the potential investors were, unknown to him, undercover journalists with the Tiger Eye PI headed by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The president who was not happy with the excerpts of the video shown to him, reported the incident to the police which led to the arrest of Mr Nyantakyi.
He has since been charged with defrauding by false pretence. A Deputy Roads Minister Anthony Karbo whose name was also mentioned in the video has been invited for questioning.
No charges have been preferred against him. At least not yet.
