Bleaching is gradually becoming a norm in Ghana and has virtually made the cosmetic industry a “gold mine” in the country.
This behavior stems from sheer ignorance and low self-esteem; where some women assume that the fairer your skin, the more attractive you are.
Let’s take a look at some various reasons why women (and some men) bleach.
The first thing that convinces some women to bleach is that, it will make them more beautiful, but what they do not know is that, it will rather errode your natural look. Bleaching will destroy your skin and make it wrinkle at a faster rate. This will mar your beauty at a very young age.
The one thing that makes every dark skin person unique is the level of melanin. Melanin protects you from the sun rays and ultra violet rays. Bleaching means you’re taking this protective feature away and making you more susceptible to skin diseases and cancer.
3. Flawless Skin
A beautiful dark skin wouldn’t leave you with any blemishes and you definitely wouldn’t be fighting dark spots. Bleaching can never give you an even skin.
After ruining your skin, you’re definitely going to have a lot of problems gaining back your confidence. Women who bleach and end up with dark and blotchy spots always do all they can to cover it with make-up before they step out. This takes a toll on your self-confidence.
5. A Good Smell
The one thing most women who bleach do not realize is that, when their sweat mixes up with the mostly harmful chemicals in these bleaching creams, it alters their natural odour. This leads to a foul body odour.
Using chemicals on your skin will end up leaving you with skin diseases (cancer for example) and other illnesses. We need not indulge you in all the effects of skin bleaching, you should know by now.
